Rajshahi Stars FC to compete in Women’s Champions League

Ritu Porna Chakma & Co. are the champions of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship for two consecutive times.

Despite being the best Women’s National Football team in South Asia, they have to play for foreign clubs in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League (WCL).

No club from Bangladesh could participate in the AFC Women’s Champions League in the last two seasons.

However, the champions of the Bangladesh Women’s Football League, Rajshahi Stars FC, will participate in the upcoming competition.

May 19 was the last day for registration in the AFC Women’s Champions League. Rajshahi Stars FC applied for registration on that day.

After reviewing the application for a few days, the AFC approved the application.

Rajshahi Stars FC are representing Bangladesh for the first time by registering in the AFC Women’s Club Champions League.

Rajshahi Stars are newcomer to Women’s Football League of Bangladesh.

The team management of Rajshahi Stars formed a team with a bunch of national footballers including Ritu Porna Chakma and Rupna Chakma and became unbeaten champions in the league.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) requested Rajshahi Stars FC to take part in the AFC Women’s Champions League. They decided to play at the last minute.

The AFC Women’s Champions League will start in August this year.
