Youth held with 100 bottles of Eskuf on Bonolota Express

A youth was arrested along with 100 bottles of illegal codeine-based “ESKuf” syrup during a special anti-drug operation conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) of Pakshi Railway District Police.

The operation was carried out at around 8:55 am on Thursday (May 21) on the moving Bonolota Express train near the eastern outer signal area of Ullapara Railway Station under Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police Station.

The arrested individual was identified as Tusar Ali, 27, son of Asikul Islam, from Malbagdanga area of Chapainawabganj district.

According to sources from Pakshi Railway District DB, acting on the instructions of Pakshi Railway Police Superintendent Md. Mehedi Hasan, a team led by Inspector (Unarmed) Mosammat Parveen Akhter conducted the operation. During the drive, police searched Tusar Ali, who was sitting on seat number 21 of coach ‘Nga’ of the Bonolota Express, after finding his behavior suspicious.

During the search, police recovered 100 bottles of “ESKuf” containing Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride, wrapped in a blanket and lungi inside a navy-blue colored luggage bag.

Police said each bottle contained 100 milliliters, totaling 10,000 milliliters or 10 liters of liquid narcotics. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around Tk 300,000.

Following the recovery, the accused was handed over to Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police Station. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.

Pakshi Railway Police Superintendent Md. Mehedi Hasan said drives against drug trafficking would continue and strict legal action would be taken against those involved.
