Gold price rises after 3 consecutive cuts
After reducing prices three times in a row, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased gold prices in the local market.
Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has increased by Tk 2,158 per bhori.
Bajus announced the revised prices in a press release on Thursday morning. The new rates came into effect from 10am the same day.
According to the new pricing structure, a bhori of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk238,121, while 21-carat gold has been priced at Tk227,331 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk194,847 per bhori, while traditional-method gold will cost Tk158,689 per bhori, according to media release.
Bajus said the latest adjustment was made in line with the rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Earlier, on Wednesday BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158, bringing it down to Tk235,963 per bhori.
At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 225,232 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk193,039 per bhori and traditional-method gold at Tk157,231 per bhori.
According to Bajus, gold prices have been adjusted 67 times in the domestic market so far this year, including 36 increases and 31 reductions.
In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times, with prices increasing 64 times and decreasing 29 times.
Despite the increase in gold prices, silver prices have remained unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk5,657 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk5,365, 18-carat silver at Tk4,607 and traditional silver at Tk3,441 per bhori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 39 times, including 21 increases and 18 reductions. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times, with 10 increases and three decreases.
