Mohammedan to hold grand event to mark 90th anniv
Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will hold a grand ceremony to mark the 90th anniversary of its establishment.
The newly elected Board of Directors of Dhaka Mohammedan informed the media about this after the first meeting of the new board at the club office in Motijheel on Sunday.
At a press conference organised after the meeting, Mohammedan officials presented various decisions regarding the club’s future plans, infrastructure development, formation of football-hockey-cricket teams and financial self-reliance to journalists.
The club’s new President Barkat Ullah Bulu, MP, said, “This year, Dhaka Mohammedan has entered its 90th year.
We want to celebrate this nine-decade event through a grand event.
We intend to make Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as the chief guest. If he gives time, the event will be organised at his convenient time.”
“This is the strongest Board of Directors in the club’s history. I hope Dhaka Mohammedan will move forward with everyone’s collective efforts.
At the same time, we also highlighted the long-term plan to maintain Mohammedan’s tradition in the country’s sports arena,” he said.
The press conference also informed about the plan to manage the club in a European style.
Officials said that Mohammedan fan clubs and organisational committees will be formed in different districts of the country. Where there is no committee, new committees will be formed with people related to sports.
As part of infrastructural development, initiatives have been taken to implement the club’s new project on 25 acres of land in Savar.
