Buffalo named ‘Donald Trump’ draws crowds
A pink albino buffalo named “Donald Trump” has become the centre of attraction at a farm in Narayanganj ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, drawing huge crowds and going viral on social media.
The nearly 700kg buffalo is being kept at Rabeya Agro Farm in Paikpara area of Narayanganj city. Its unusual pinkish colour and reddish-golden hair on the front of its head have caught people’s attention, with many saying the hair resembles Donald Trump’s signature hairstyle.
Farm owner Zia Uddin Mridha said the buffalo was bought from a market in Rajshahi around 10 months ago. It has already been sold to a buyer from Dhaka at a live weight rate of Tk 550 per kg. The total price stood at around Tk 3.85 lakh.
“It had no name at first. Later, my younger brother jokingly said its hair looked like Donald Trump’s. From then on, the name caught on,” Mridha said.
Since then, the buffalo has become popular on Facebook, TikTok and other social media platforms. Visitors are coming to the farm to take photos, record videos and go live with “Narayanganj’s Trump.”
Farm staff said the buffalo’s popularity has spread beyond Bangladesh, with videos also being shared in countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and China.
Herder Jubayer said the farm has other animals with funny names, including Tufan, Rahman Dakat and Mastan, but none has become as popular as “Donald Trump.”
“Many people come only to see this buffalo. Children love it very much,” he said.
According to the farm authorities, the buffalo is calm by nature and receives special care. Its diet includes corn, soybean, sesame cake, wheat bran, rice bran, straw and fresh grass. It is also bathed regularly.
Caretaker Kawsar Mia said hundreds of people have been visiting the farm every day since the buffalo went viral.
Local resident Ashraful Islam said he first saw the buffalo on Facebook and later came to the farm to see it in person.
“When I saw it online, I did not believe it. But after coming here, I saw that the hair really looks like Trump’s,” he said.
District Livestock Officer Abdul Mannan said the animal is not a rare foreign breed but a domestic albino-type buffalo.
“This unusual colour appears due to a lack of pigmentation in the body,” he said.
Rabeya Agro Farm has prepared around 200 animals for Eid-ul-Azha this year, but the viral pink buffalo “Donald Trump” has become the biggest attraction.
