Readers’ Voice: Excessive use of AI

I would like to draw attention to a growing concern among students today: the excessive use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Although AI has brought significant convenience and efficiency to various sectors, including healthcare, industry and education, its increasing dependence among students is becoming worrying.

In the present digital age, many students rely heavily on AI tools to complete assignments and homework.

Rather than analysing problems independently, they often depend on AI-generated responses.

As a result, their creativity, analytical ability and critical thinking skills are gradually being weakened.

Education is not merely about completing tasks; it is about understanding concepts, developing original ideas and learning to think independently.

Furthermore, recent studies suggest that overdependence on AI may negatively affect cognitive development.

Students who constantly rely on such tools may face difficulties when required to solve problems or think critically without technological assistance.

This growing dependency may hinder genuine learning and personal development.

Therefore, students should be encouraged to use AI responsibly and in moderation.

Teachers and educational institutions also have an important role in guiding learners towards the ethical and balanced use of technology.

AI should serve as a supportive learning tool rather than a substitute for independent thought and effort.

It is hoped that greater awareness of this issue will encourage students to maintain a healthy balance between technology and independent learning, helping them become more capable and intellectually confident in the future.
