Lineman electrocuted in Dhaka

An 18-year-old internet lineman died after being electrocuted in Kurarghat of Kamrangirchar in Dhaka on Thursday night.

The victim, Md Sumon, was taken unconscious to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 9:00pm, where doctors on duty declared him dead.

Sumon, son of Md Shahbuddin from Madhya Swarnabadh village in Bhola Sadar upazila, lived with his family in the Gonkatuli area of Hazaribagh.

His colleague Al Amin said Sumon was working on an internet line near the Kurarghat electricity office around 8:00pm when he accidentally came into contact with a live wire and was immediately rendered unconscious.

He was later rushed to DMCH, where his death was confirmed.

DMCH police camp in-charge Inspector Md Faruk said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue, and the incident has been reported to the concerned police station.
