‘BNP can’t blame Interim Govt for measles crisis’

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has demanded accountability over the recent measles outbreak in Bangladesh that reportedly killed over 100 children.

Speaking at an NCP programme at the Chattogram Press Club on Thursday, Nahid, a former adviser to the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, said those truly responsible for the crisis must face justice.

He said the current government cannot escape responsibility by blaming the previous administration alone and urged authorities to conduct a proper investigation and take action against those found accountable.

The government has claimed the situation deteriorated as the interim administration failed to carry out a measles vaccination campaign and procure vaccines.

Nahid also called for urgent measures, including ensuring intensive care facilities, saying he does not want to see more children fall sick or die from the outbreak.
