Afridi calls Nahid an asset for Bangladesh
Nahid Rana has been playing regularly for Bangladesh Cricket team for two years. Although he is not a regular in red-ball cricket, this pace star is a consistent star in white-ball cricket.
Rana recently performed well in One Day International (ODI) matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. This time, this pacer is waiting to take the field in red-ball cricket against Pakistan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi came to a press conference for Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
The Pakistani pacer spoke about the importance of Nahid Rana. Shaheen Shah Afridi said, “I spoke to Shaun Tait before the ODI series. I think Nahid Rana is an asset for Bangladesh cricket. I hope Bangladesh will use him (Nahid Rana) well.”
Shaheen Afridi, however, jokingly said that even if Rana is in a good form, he will not be able to take advantage against Pakistan, “Nahid Rana is in a very good form, but I hope he will not be able to take advantage of us too much (smile).”
Regarding past Test series losses, Afridi said, “The past is the past. I personally don’t want to remember the past. Our goal is to look at the present and the future, how we are preparing ourselves.”
Later, Afridi clarified, “Our main goal is how to win the championship (ICC World Test Championship), not just to win a series. Our goal as a team is much bigger and we are ready for that.”
The first Test match between Bangladesh Cricket team and Pakistan Cricket team will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur from May 8 to May 12.
The second Test match between the Tigers and Pakistan Cricket team will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 to May 20.
