Minister Zahid Hossain’s mother dies
Begum Jebunnesa, mother of Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain, died at a private hospital in the capital early Wednesday. She was 83.
Family sources said she had been undergoing treatment there and breathed her last in the early hours of the day.
On her death, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman expressed profound shock and sorrow.
In a condolence message, Tarique Rahman conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved members of the family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
He described Begum Jebunnesa as a devoted teacher who had played an important role in educating many students through her knowledge, talent and dedication.
He said many of her former students are now well established in society and contributing significantly to the country.
Tarique Rahman also noted that she was an exemplary mother who brought up her children with proper education, discipline and moral values, adding that she earned deep respect from all as a noble and dignified woman.
He further extended condolences to her relatives, admirers and well-wishers.
