Marufa receives good news

After a big win against Indonesia in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh suffered a defeat to Sri Lanka. However, pacer Marufa Akter has received some great news. She has climbed to a career-best position in the ICC T20 bowling rankings.

The ICC released the weekly rankings for women cricketers on Tuesday. Marufa climbed 19 places in the rankings after taking 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs against Sri Lanka.

Following this career-best rise, she now holds the 18th position, with a career-high rating of 622. Consequently, Marufa is currently the top-ranked Bangladeshi bowler in T20s.

BD spinner Sultana Khatun has climbed nine spots to jointly hold the 37th position after taking 1 wicket for 14 runs in four overs. Rabeya Khan (down one spot to 22nd) and Nahida Akter (down four spots to 32nd) have slipped in the bowlers’ rankings.

Overall, there have been no changes in the top five of the women’s T20 bowling rankings; the top three spots are held by Sri Charani, Sophie Ecclestone, and Sophie Devine.

In the T20I batter rankings, Bangladesh’s Sobhana Mostary (up 3 spots to 36), Dilara Akter (up 5 spots to 62), Nigar Sultana Joty (up 1 spot to 21), and Juairiya Ferdous (up 6 spots to 96) have all moved up. Among Bangladeshi batters, Captain Joty holds the highest position in the T20I rankings.

Australia’s Beth Mooney remains at the top of the T20I batter rankings, as usual. She is followed by Georgia Wareham and Laura Wolvaardt in second and third place, respectively.

There are no changes among the top 16 batters. Similarly, there are no changes in the women’s T20I all-rounder rankings, with Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, and Chamari Athapaththu occupying the top three spots.
