Renewable energy vital for green power sector

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood on Saturday said renewable energy is now essential for developing a sustainable power sector in Bangladesh.

“We believe a sustainable, affordable and accountable energy system will be the foundation of Bangladesh’s future progress,” he said while speaking at a programme organised by the Sustainable & Renewable Energy Solution Initiative at a city hotel.

The minister stressed the need for long-term planning and greater transparency in the energy sector. He also noted that the entry of globally recognised companies such as Lesso Solar and Zero Technology comes at a crucial time for the country.

As a special guest, Jatiya Sangsad Whip M. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu highlighted the importance of joint efforts to enhance energy security and support sustainable industrial development.

Lesso Solar and Zero Technology have officially entered Bangladesh’s renewable energy market through Greenery Energy Solutions Limited, marking a significant step in the country’s shift toward sustainable energy.

Greenery Energy Solutions Limited (GESL), a sister concern of Livenza Group, has been appointed as the exclusive distribution partner of both brands in Bangladesh and the sole national distributor of Lesso Solar.

Managing Director of GESL Sanzid Shahnoor said the company aims to drive sustainable transformation in the energy sector by combining Livenza Group’s 25 years of business experience with Greenery’s global expertise.

He added that the company intends not only to supply products but also to help industries and commercial establishments lower electricity consumption through advanced technologies, making operations more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Shahnoor also expressed hope that solar energy and smart HVAC solutions will play a key role in supporting sustainable growth in Bangladesh’s garments and textile sectors.
