Honorarium controversy before film’s release, Roshan angry, Bubly silent

An uncomfortable situation has arisen before the release of new movie ‘Sardarbarir Khela’.

Hero of the film Ziaul Roshan has alleged that preparations have been made to release the film without paying the royalties.

As a result, controversy has started about the film even before its release, and the hero’s silence is also visible in the promotion.

The movie, which received government funding in the 2022-23 fiscal year, was submitted to the certification board after shooting under the title ‘Pulsiraat’, but objections arose.

Later, the name was changed to ‘Sardarbarir Khela’.

Recently, the production company Tiger Media released the trailer of the film on their Facebook page, saying that the film will be released in theaters on May 8.

But even after a few days of the announcement, the film’s lead actor and director have not been seen in its promotion, which is usually expected before the release.

The reason for this silence has come to light due to financial disputes. On Monday afternoon, Ziaul Roshan said that he had signed a contract for a fee of Tk 8 lakh to act in this film.

According to the contract, the full amount was supposed to be paid before dubbing, but that was not done.

In Roshan’s words, “Even after getting permission to release from the Certification Board, my dues have not been paid.

In the meantime, I suddenly saw that the trailer has been released, this does not seem like professional behaviour.”

He further said that he has informed the director about the matter. Producer Mir Zahid Hasan, however, has assured to handle the situation.

According to him, this is his first film and he has had to face various experiences in the production process.

He said that despite receiving a grant of Tk 6 million from the government, the total cost of the film is about Tk 1 crore 6 million.

Although the film was planned to be released last year, it was not possible due to non-payment of some of the heroine’s dues.

Later, the dues were paid. Regarding Roshan’s dues, he said, “It has been discussed, it will be resolved in a day or two.”

Director Rakhal Sabuj also spoke in the same tone. He said that the producer has assured that he will pay the actor’s honorarium very soon.

At the same time, talks have been held with everyone concerned; including the actor and heroine, and the official campaign will start soon.

However, the film’s heroine Shobnom Bubly, who is currently in Dhaka, is unable to participate in the direct campaign.

It is learned that she will promote the film through video messages and social media.

Roshan said that he has also spoken to Bubly and she has also said that she will join the campaign only if the pending issues are resolved.

Meanwhile, regarding the trailer release, Ziaul Roshan said, “I was not informed about the release announcement or the trailer release in advance. That’s why I am not in the campaign.”

Apart from Ziaul Roshan and Shobnom Bubly, Azad Abul Kalam, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Nasir Uddin Khan, Iresh Zaker, etc have also acted in the movie ‘Sardarbarir Khela’.
