US police hand over Limon’s body

The body of Bangladeshi PhD student Jamil Limon of the University of South Florida (USF) has been handed over to authorities in Tampa, South Florida by police.

The handover took place on Tuesday (US local time), according to a verified Facebook post by Press Minister at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, Golam Mortoza.

Mortoza said the decision to hand over the body was made in coordination with the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami, the Bangladeshi community, and the University of South Florida. Prior to the transfer, the consulate obtained consent from Limon’s family, reports media.

He added that all subsequent procedures will be completed in accordance with Islamic rites.
He further said it may take another one to two days to complete the process of sending the body back to Bangladesh.

Limon, 27, and Brishti were last seen on April 16. Limon’s body was later found last Friday in a black trash bag on the Howard Frankland Bridge. Brishti remains missing, although police have recovered some unidentified body parts.

In connection with the incident, police have arrested Limon’s roommate, Hisham Abugharbeh, 26.
He faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, abuse of a dead body, and tampering with evidence.
