Comilla Divisional Club : Tamiji as Convener, Dr. Forkan as Member Secretary

The “Comilla Divisional Club” has been officially launched in the capital. To mark the occasion, a grand programme was held at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.

The event was presided over by noted poet, sociologist, and heritage researcher Mu. Nazrul Islam Tamiji. Distinguished individuals from various sectors of Comilla, Chandpur, and Brahmanbaria districts were in attendance.

At the meeting, a 21-member convening committee was unanimously formed. Md. Nazrul Islam Tamiji was elected as Convener, and Dr. Forkan Uddin was named Member Secretary. The Joint Conveners are Haji Md. Ziauddin, Poet Md. Abu Taher, Engineer Md. Rahad Uzzaman, and Dr. Abdul Alim.

Other members of the convening committee include Principal Salauddin Bhuiyan, engineer Md. Jasim Uddin, Alhaj Md. Billal Hossain, Professor Naila Islam, Mahmudul Haque Majumdar, Kamruzzaman Jony, Engineer Safiul Azam, Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, poet Bappi Saha, poet Tahera Khatun, and Mizanur Rahman Mizan, among others. Coordinators will be Poet Roli Akter, Poet R. Mujib, and Poet Saif Sadi.

In his presidential address, Md. Nazrul Islam Tamiji said, “The Comilla Divisional Club is not just an organization—it will serve as a strong platform for heritage, culture, and social bonding, where people from the Comilla region can nurture and develop their roots, traditions, and values.”

Speakers at the event noted that the club will play an important role in fostering mutual cooperation, cultural development, and social progress among people of the Comilla division. They also expressed hope that it would effectively connect the younger generation with their heritage.

The programme concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with attendees expressing their best wishes for the success of the newly formed club.
