Body of customs officer found
The body of customs officer Bullet Bairagi (35), who went missing while returning to Dhaka after completing training in Chittagong, has been recovered by police 12 hours later.
The body was recovered on Saturday at around 7:45 in the morning from beside a hotel in the Kotbari area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Moynamati Highway Police Station OC Abdul Momin confirmed this information.
The deceased Bullet Bairagi was working as an Assistant Revenue Officer in the Customs, Excise and VAT department. He was returning to Dhaka after completing his 44th basic training in Chittagong. In his personal life, he was the father of one child.
The deceased’s wife Urmi Hira stated that Bullet Bairagi went to Chittagong on April 11 for government training. On Friday, April 24, at around 11 o’clock at night, after completing his training, he boarded a bus from Alankaar More in Chittagong heading towards Dhaka.
Along the way, he spoke with his family over mobile phone. Most recently, at around 2:25 at night, he called and informed that he was in the Tomsom Bridge area of Kumilla city.
After a long time passed and he still had not returned home, when family members called him, they found his mobile phone switched off. After searching all possible locations and finding no trace of him, his father Sushil Bairagi filed a General Diary (GD) at Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station on Saturday morning.
Moynamati Highway Police Station OC Abdul Momin stated that upon receiving a call on 999, police recovered the body of an unidentified individual from the footpath beside the Irish Hotel and Restaurant on the highway.
Later, family members went to the police station and identified the body as that of Bullet Bairagi. The deceased has marks of injury on his head and back.
