I don’t think myself a celebrity: Swastika
Swastika Mukherjee is an actress from West Bengal. While today’s actors
cannot imagine moving around without a luxurious car, Swastika is an exception.
In the afternoon, she can be seen riding a bus or auto in a crowd of ordinary people.

This actress doesn’t even hesitate to eat fuchka like a commoner while standing at the intersection of Gariahat in Kolkata.
Despite being the child of a star and a big-name actress herself, she is reluctant to call herself a celebrity.
According to Swastika, the literal meaning of the word ‘celebrity’ is someone people celebrate.
But the current use of the word makes her think a lot. She said, “I don’t consider myself a celebrity.
The word celebrity is so misused now that if someone calls me a celebrity, it feels like someone is insulting me. I tell everyone.
Call me a person, call me an artiste, call me an actress or call me a woman but please don’t call me a celebrity.”
Nowadays, stars are judged on social media by the number of followers or the popularity of their videos.
In Swastika’s words, “Now everyone is a celebrity. If someone has more followers, they are also a celebrity.
Everyone is an influencer now. I don’t know what kind of influence they are actually exerting.”
Swastika, who has always been confident about her personality, also said that she is a very ordinary person and is comfortable living her life that way.
She added, “At least I don’t consider myself a celebrity. I like to be very ordinary. So, I don’t like it when someone calls me a celebrity, rather I forbid them.”
