None of celebs get nominations for reserved women’s seats

Despite winning the hearts of the audience on the big screen or on the music or dance stage, the celebrities of the showbiz arena have had to be disappointed in the political arena.
Several celebrities did not get nomination from BNP in the 13th National Parliament election.
This time, some well-known faces of the showbiz arena were hoping for the reserved women’s seats.
They even applied expecting nomination from BNP.
In the end, that hope has been dashed and no star made it to the final list.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the names of candidates for reserved women seats at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan in the capital on Monday.
He said the nomination board has finally nominated 36 candidates after two-day interviews with national committee members.
The absence of any artiste from the showbiz arena in the announced list has created discussion in the relevant circles.
Earlier, singers Baby Naznin, Rizia Parveen, Kanak Chapa, dancer Farhana Chowdhury Baby and model and actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak came into discussion by collecting nomination forms for the reserved women’s seat.
Their active presence in the political arena was also noticeable.
However, in the end, the nomination board took a different decision.
The final list included experienced and active women leaders from various levels of the party. Among them are Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akhter Ranu, Newaz Halima Early, Mosammat Farida Yasmin, Bilkis Islam, Shakila Farzana, Helen Zerin Khan, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Zeba Amin Khan, Mahmuda Habiba and among others.
