Illegal brick kiln raid in Rangpur, 4 owners fined

A joint mobile court has been conducted against four brick kiln owners operating illegally in Rangpur in violation of environmental regulations.

RAB-13 Additional Superintendent of Police and Senior Assistant Director (Media) Biplob Kumar Goswami said on Wednesday that the raid was conducted from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday in the Bhagwatipur and Rampura areas of Mithapukur Upazila as a joint initiative of RAB-13, the Rangpur District Administration, and the Department of Environment.

The raid was carried out in the Bhagwatipur and Rampura areas of Mithapukur Upazila, where various offences were proven.

including operating unlicensed brick kilns, setting up kilns in prohibited areas, operating without environmental clearance, and emitting excessive smoke and toxic gases.

Among those fined are Rabiul Pramanik (RR Bricks), Tk 5 lakh; Nazmul Islam (LKS Bricks), Tk 2.5 lakh; Sajedul Islam, Tk 4 lakh; and Rabiul Islam, Tk 4 lakh.

RAB-13 said that this action was taken due to violations of the Environment Protection Act and the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment Control Act. Those involved in the drive said that such campaigns against illegal brick kilns will continue in the future to protect the environment.
