BSF hands over 9 Bangladeshis to BGB at Sylhet border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over nine Bangladeshi nationals, including women and a child, to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after detaining them on charges of illegal entry into India through the Sylhet border.
According to BGB and police sources, the individuals were arrested by a patrol team of the BSF’s 4th Battalion from the Muktarpur camp around 2:00 am on April 4.
A flag meeting between the BSF and BGB was held on April 5 in the Pillar No. 1275 area along the Tamabil border.
Following the meeting, the BSF formally handed over the detainees-four men, four women, and a child-to the BGB. Later that afternoon, BGB personnel transferred them to Gowainghat Police Station.
The detainees include Hasan Gazi and his wife Ayesha Khatun from Bagerhat, Shukur Ali, Hasina Akhter, Rozina Akhter from Kishoreganj, Parul Rajbangshi from Munshiganj, Nahid Ahmed Naeem from Sylhet.
Helal Ahmed, and a 15-month-old child, Abir Gazi.
In connection with the incident, Havildar Humayon Kabir of Tamabil BOP camp filed a case under the Passport Act with Gowainghat Police Station.
Inspector (Investigation) Kabir Hossain of Gowainghat Police Station said the detainees were handed over to police on Sunday afternoon. A case was filed, and they were sent to court on Monday morning.
