The daily life, rights and quality of life of tea garden workers have been captured on camera by director Shankha Dasgupta. He has made the web film ‘Cha Gorom’.

It stars Safa Kabir, Partho Sheikh, Rezwan Parvez, Sarah Jabin Aditi, AK Azad Shetu and others. The story and screenplay are written by Saifullah Riyad.

Talking about the web film ‘Cha Gorom’, director Shankha Dasgupta said, “Tea gardens have always been used as a backdrop in Bangladeshi dramas and movies. I feel like this needs to be broken. We wanted to go inside the tea gardens.

We tried to see the life of the tea gardens. Not only did I capture the beauty, this time I got the opportunity to go inside the tea gardens and see the life of the workers.”

Shankha Dasgupta spent some time in the tea gardens to make the web film.

He learned all kinds of information that the common people don’t know – all those have been revealed in this web film, according to him.

Actress Safa Kabir said, “One of the biggest reasons for my interest in ‘Cha Gorom’ was director Shankha Dasgupta. He always tells different kinds of stories.

There is a clear vision in his work. At the same time, the story also seemed very powerful to me. It highlights a side of our society that we don’t see very often, but is very close. This inspired me to be a part of the work.”

Actor Partho Sheikh shared his feelings by this way, “Shankhada told me that he had a role for me. I had not worked with him in fiction before. I was very inspired after hearing the story and the character. I felt that such work has been done very rarely; and this is a good opportunity for me.
So, I agreed.”

On the other hand, actress Sarah Zabin Aditi commented, “What I liked after listening to the story ‘Cha Gorom’ is that this story very eloquently highlights some of the difficult realities of
tea plantation life.”

The web film ‘Cha Gorom’ will be released on OTT platform Chorki on Pahela Boishakh.
