BCC orders to remove illegal structures from sidewalks in Barishal city

Barishal City Corporation (BCC) has taken a strict stance to remove illegal structures from sidewalks, roads, and public places across the city.

To this end, a notice was issued on Friday afternoon, directing the removal of all illegal shops and structures by April 10 at the owners’ own responsibility.

Meanwhile, the City Corporation has launched two WhatsApp numbers (01616164696 and 01730441335) to directly receive complaints, suggestions, and reports of various problems from city residents.

The notice states that if the illegal structures are not removed within the stipulated time, an eviction drive will be conducted by an Executive Magistrate.

In addition, legal action will be taken against illegal occupants.

BCC Administrator Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shirin said that the normal movement of the general public is being disrupted as most sidewalks in the city are occupied.

If anyone fails to remove the structures voluntarily within the stipulated time, a strict eviction drive will be carried out.

The BCC has urged citizens to send information, including photos and videos.
