BCB moves to mend BCCI ties after T20 WC strain
Bangladesh are working to repair cricketing ties with India after relations were strained during the T20 World Cup (WC) amid security concerns and political tensions.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reached out to its Indian counterpart Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim confirming ongoing communication over upcoming bilateral commitments.
“We have a series coming up with India, and communication is ongoing,” Fahim said, adding that no specific tour has yet been finalised.
A BCB official, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted ties had “suffered” but said efforts were now underway to improve the relationship.
“There is no denying that our relationship with India had suffered. We are now trying to improve it,” the official said.
Under the International Cricket Council Future Tours Programme, India were scheduled to visit Bangladesh in 2025, but the series was postponed at India’s request.
It is now expected to be rescheduled this year, with the BCB including it as a priority in its annual calendar.
