CCC Independence Book Fair begins

The 19-day Great Independence Book Fair Chattogram-2026, organised by the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) in collaboration with the Chattogram Creative Publishers Council, Chattogram Civil Society, freedom fighters, writers, journalists, educators, and leaders of literary and cultural organisations, will begin today at 4:00 p.m. at the Chattogram Gymnasium Ground.

Creative publishers from Dhaka and Chattogram will participate in the fair, which will continue until April 18, 2026. The event is expected to attract more writers and readers than previous editions.

The fair will be open to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on holidays.

A total of 129 stalls have been allocated across the 40,000-square-foot gymnasium, including 35 double stalls and 94 single stalls. In total, 112 publishing houses from Dhaka and Chattogram will participate.

For security, the premises will be monitored by CCTV cameras, with round-the-clock police and professional private security deployed throughout the fair.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the president of Bangladesh CJKS for allocating the gymnasium and highlighted that the fair belongs to all residents of Chattogram.

They also called on journalists’ coverage to help encourage writers, readers, and publishers.
