Middle East tension: 775 flights cancelled at HSIA in 27 days
The disruption to flights from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA( has continued due to the prevailing security situation in the Middle East.
A total of 775 flights have been cancelled over the past 27 days, up to Thursday noon.
The information was confirmed by Kawsar Mahmud, an official from the public relations department of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
He said that on February 28, several Middle Eastern countries—including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan—closed their airspace due to emerging security concerns.
As a result, flights bound for the Middle East from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport began to be cancelled.
He added that, in continuation of this trend, a total of 775 flights have been cancelled from the airport over the past 27 days up to Thursday noon.
