Unidentified woman’s body recovered

A body of an unidentified woman was recovered by police from Shahjadpur Road in Gulshan, the capital, early Monday morning. Her identity has not yet been confirmed. Police suspect that she was around 50 years old, reports media.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Anindya Talukder of Gulshan Police Station said that around 4:30 am, the body of the woman was found lying in a bloodied condition on Pragati Sarani, opposite Subastu Nagar Valley Market in Shahjadpur.

Acting on information, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy. She was wearing a white and green printed saree and a red blouse.

Preliminary investigation and discussions with local residents suggest that the woman died on the spot after being hit by an unidentified vehicle or transport while crossing the road around 4 am.
