Bangladesh to repatriate nationals from Iran
The government has taken an initiative to repatriate Bangladeshi nationals willing to return from war-hit Iran.
A decision has been made to bring back several hundred Bangladeshis currently residing in the country, officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
They said the process may begin on Thursday, if all preparations proceed as planned.
Under the initial plan, around 200 Bangladeshis are set to be flown back to Dhaka from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
They will first be transported by road from Iran to Azerbaijan via the border. From there, they will be brought back on a special chartered flight from Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Foreign ministry officials said M Amanul Haq, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Turkey, is travelling to Azerbaijan to oversee the repatriation process.
In addition, two officials from the ministry left Dhaka for Baku on Tuesday night to assist with the operation, the officials added.
