No compromise on illegal activities during Eid holiday
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir has vowed that no compromises will be made with any illegal activities or irregularities during the holiday period.
He also assured the public that all police units are fully prepared and working to ensure safe and comfortable travel for passengers.
The IGP made the remarks after inspecting the Gabtali Bus Terminal in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, where he addressed concerns related to the Eid journey, reports media.
“Every year, people traveling home for Eid face severe traffic congestion and delays, often failing to reach their destinations on time,” Fakir said.
“To tackle these problems, the government and the police have jointly held coordination meetings, and we are using advanced technology to improve road and traffic management.”
The IGP highlighted that certain areas, particularly major market locations and key intersections in the capital, are prone to heavy traffic congestion.
He stated that the police are working alongside local representatives and conscious citizens to reduce traffic bottlenecks in these critical areas.
