Top police posts see major overhaul
The government on Monday carried out a significant reshuffle in the top ranks of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Bangladesh Police, reassigning eight senior officials.
According to notifications issued by the Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, officers holding the ranks of Additional Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) were transferred to new positions.
DIG of Chattogram Range, Md Ahsan Habib Palash, recently promoted to Additional IGP, has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of RAB, replacing the incumbent chief.
The notifications also included the following appointments: Additional IGP Sardar Nurul Amin at Police Headquarters has been made Additional IGP of the Special Branch (SB), Additional IGP Md Chibgat Ullah of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been transferred to Police Headquarters as Additional IGP, Additional IGP Mosleh Uddin Ahmed of Police Headquarters has been appointed Additional IGP of CID, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz has been made Additional IGP of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, has been appointed Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), DIG of the Special Branch Md Moniruzzaman has been assigned as DIG of Chattogram Range, DIG Md Ashrafur Rahman at Police Headquarters has been given the current charge of Additional IGP at Police Headquarters.
This reshuffle marks a significant reorganisation of senior leadership within Bangladesh’s elite police and paramilitary forces.
