Poultry market: Sonali chicken price crosses Tk 350 per kg
Md. Salauddin, a resident of Sheorapara area of the capital, bought golden chicken from the market at the beginning of last week for 320 taka per kg. Thursday, he bought golden chicken again; he paid 350 taka per kg; that is, the price per kg has increased by 30 taka in the space of a week.
Along with Sonali, the prices of broiler chicken and eggs have increased. Apart from this, the prices of various types of fish have also increased slightly compared to before.
And the supply situation of bottled soybean oil has not yet normalized. However, the prices of vegetables in the market are stable.
Vendors said that there are only 8-9 days left for Eid-ul-Fitr. Many people are already buying chicken as part of Eid preparations. The price has increased as demand is higher than supply.
This information was obtained after visiting Sheorapara, Mohammadpur Agricultural Market and Town Hall Market in the capital on Thursday morning and talking to buyers and sellers.
At the beginning of Ramadan, the price of broiler chicken increased to Tk 200-220 per kg. After a few days, the price started to decrease. Two weeks ago, broiler chicken was bought for Tk 160 per kg. Then the price started to increase again.
Last week, broiler chicken was sold for Tk 200 per kg. In the last three days, the price has increased further. Today, broiler chicken was sold for Tk 220 per kg in three markets in Dhaka; that is, the price of broiler chicken has increased by about Tk 60 per kg in the space of two weeks. And the price has increased by Tk 20 per kg in the space of three days.
Meanwhile, the price of golden chicken has increased by 50 taka per kg in the space of two weeks. Today, golden chicken was sold at 320-350 taka per kg in the capital, depending on the quality. In some markets, golden chicken was sold at 360 taka. Two weeks ago, the price of golden chicken was 270-300 taka per kg.
