Mirpur fire under control 23 rescued, no injury reported

The fire that broke out on the third floor of a 10-storey building opposite Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur-2 on Monday afternoon has been doused.

The fire was finally doused at 4:35pm, said Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the control room.

A total of 23 people were rescued from different floors of the building, including 12 men and 9 women. Among them, one man and one woman were found unconscious and later rescued; no casualties were reported, she added.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, they received reports of the blaze at 1:52pm.

By 2:50pm, four firefighting units were working to douse the flames, while two more units were on the way, officials said.The blaze was brought under control by 3:22pm.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
