RMG worker found dead in Ashulia
Police have recovered the body of a 40-year-old worker, Habibullah, who was found hanging inside a garment factory in Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka.
The incident has caused concern among workers, with questions being raised about the cause of death.
The deceased, Habibullah, was the son of Nurul Islam from Kherkathi village, Jaldhaka Upazila, Nilphamari District.
He was employed as a swing loader at the Golden GAB factory located in the Polashbari area of Ashulia.
The factory’s security in-charge, Mojibur Rahman, said that on Monday morning, while on duty, they found Habibullah hanging by a piece of cloth near the stairs and lift inside the factory. The matter was immediately reported to the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
However, workers at the factory have raised several questions about the incident. Many pointed out that in typical hanging suicides, the entire body is usually suspended; in this case, the body was found with the knees bent and feet touching the ground. This has led to speculation that there may be other factors behind the death.
A worker named Nasima said that production had been halted for several days, and workers were given leave.
“It is difficult to accept such a death in a closed factory.
The entire premises are under CCTV surveillance, and security measures are strict. Therefore, many suspect that something else may be involved in this incident,” she said.
SI Monirul Islam of Ashulia Police Station said that the body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
He added that the post-mortem report will confirm the exact cause of death, and the matter will be investigated thoroughly with necessary legal action taken.
