Decision taken by Shreya Ghoshal regarding playback

Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal has announced a big decision regarding her career and playback. She will never sing songs with so-called obscene lyrics like ‘Chikni Chameli’ again.

In an interview last year, Shreya claimed that many songs present women as mere ‘commodities’.

She felt uncomfortable singing about it without understanding the younger generation.

Shreya said, “I will never record a song like ‘Chikni Chameli’ again. Now I feel ashamed that I have sung such a song.”

She also said that after popularity of ‘Chikni Chameli’, she received many more offers of indecent or offensive songs.
