29,829 get state-funded legal aid thru NLASO

A total of 29,829 workers have received legal assistance at government expense under the Legal Aid programme of the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO).
The information was disclosed in a report published on the organization’s website, detailing legal assistance provided from 2009 to December 2025.
Initially, legal aid services were introduced at the district level for financially insolvent and underprivileged people.
Subsequently, labour legal aid cells were established in Dhaka and Chattogram to extend support specifically to workers. According to the report, up to December 2025, a total of 29,829 workers received legal assistance through these labour cells.
Of these, 21,971 were provided with legal advice. Legal action was initiated in 4,449 cases, of which 820 have been disposed of. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) initiatives were undertaken in 3,309 cases and 1,920 of those were settled through ADR.
The services are being provided under the Legal Aid Services Act to ensure access to justice for financially insolvent and disadvantaged justice seekers.
The activities of the National Legal Aid Services Organization are conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
