‘President reveals state secrets, violates oath’
Staff Reporter :
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has said that President Mohammed Shahabuddin violated his constitutional oath by publicly disclosing internal and confidential state matters.
In a statement sent to the media today (25 February), Porwar expressed deep concern over a recent interview in which the president reportedly discussed sensitive state issues.
“The position of president is the highest constitutional office in the country. Every statement and action of the person holding this office is extremely important for the nation and is connected to the principles of the constitutional oath and confidentiality,” he said.
“By revealing the state’s internal and confidential matters in his recent interview, he has violated his oath and failed to safeguard state secrets. This has raised questions, sparked debate, and generated concerns among citizens. I express my deep concern over this incident,” Porwar added.
The Jamaat secretary general said, “Maintaining transparency, accountability, and constitutional propriety in state governance is the duty of every responsible individual. In the current political context of the country, responsible persons must speak with restraint and moderation.
“To preserve public trust in state institutions, the president must give statements with respect for the constitution and law, and remain vigilant in safeguarding the dignity and stability of the state.”
