Couple commits suicide in city 3 other bodies also recovered

After only four days of wedding, a couple allegedly committed suicides by hanging themselves from a ceiling fan in city’s Anandanagar area under Badda Police Station on Sunday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Shahin, 25, a furniture businessman, hailing from Gaibanda district, and his wife Rubi, 21, from Madaripur district. They lived in a rented house in the area, police said.
Abdul Jalil, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station said that Shahin and Rubi committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling fan in their residence around 12:15pm. They got married 10th of this month.
Police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
The reason behind the suicide could not be known immediately, added the official.
On Sunday morning, the inmates of the house found the couple hanging from a ceiling fan in their room and informed the police. The OC said the young couple might have committed suicide for family feud over their marriage.
Meanwhile, a man allegedly has been beaten to death by his younger brother in capital’s Kafrul area.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sumon, 35, son of Tofazzal Hossain of East Kazipara area.
Sumon’s neighbour Jewel said: “Sumon’s younger brother Shojib locked into a quarrel with him on Sunday morning. At one stage of the quarrel, he hit Sumon on the head with a bat.”
“The duty doctor declared Sumon dead at around 12:05pm,” said DMCH police outpost In-Charge Mozammel Hoque.
In another incident, body of an abandon minor girl was recovered from Anandanagar area of Badda in the morning. The boy went missing four days ago. The victim was identified as Meem, 5, daughter of Sentu Mia, said Badda thanna OC Abdul Jalil. The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he said. At Mohammadpur, an unidentified body was recovered from a footpath in Town Hall in the morning, said Mohammadpur thana Sub-inspector (SI) Masud Parvej.
