An old man died during voting in Manikganj

An old man died at 11:20 am on Thursday at the Mahadevpur Government Primary School center in Shibalaya Upazila while voting in Manikganj-1 constituency.

The deceased old man’s name is Babu Mia. He is the son of Hamed Ali of Mahadevpur area and was a van driver by profession.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Babu Mia had arrived at the center to vote. He had collected voter slips and stood in line. But before voting, he suddenly felt physically ill and collapsed there at one point. Although people present tried to help him, he died on the spot.

Eyewitness Abdul Mannan said, “Babu came to the center a little earlier to vote. The vote was not cast.”

The local administration and officials in charge have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.
Mahadevpur Union Chairman Md. Shahjahan said, “After so many days, there is a lot of Eid joy in this election. But the death of Babu Mia has cast a shadow of grief over the area.”
