Father, son, among 3, burnt in city

Staff Reporter :Three persons, including a man and his son, sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at a shoe factory in the city’s Tikatuli area early Saturday.The victims have been identified as Salahuddin, 60, owner of the factory, his son Pantu, 12, and, an employee of the factory Nazim Uddin, 16.The injured men had been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), police said.Quoting the family members of the victim, DMCH Police Outpost In-charge and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sentu Chandra Das said that the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the factory and engulfed the entire factory immediately, leaving them injured.Local people doused the flame, the police official said.A team of fire service also visited the spot, he said.  Of the injured, Salahuddin received burns in his hands, chest and back, while Pantu sustained injuries in his face and Nazim in his left hand and face, the police official said.
