Administration has tilted to one side Jamaat

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer has alleged that the field administration and law enforcement agencies have tilted to one side.
A five-member Jamaat delegation led by Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin on Sunday at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Those present at the meeting included Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain, Barrister Saifuddin Khaled, and Election Management Committee member Aliullah Noman.
After the meeting, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer spoke to journalists.
He said, “Across the country, we are seeing attacks in various places. Terrorist activities are taking place.
Our women workers engaged in election work are being attacked and harassed. Police are harassing us by conducting searches at our election offices in the name of inspections. In reality, the field administration and law enforcement agencies have tilted to one side.”
He added, “We have said this before to the Election Commission and to the local returning officers and assistant officers who are responsible for administration. But we are not seeing any visible improvement.”
He further said, “In Dhaka-15, where our Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr Shafiqur Rahman is contesting the election, repeated terrorist activities are taking place. Women are being attacked, harassed, and threatened.
These incidents are happening one after another.”
He continued, “Similarly, as you have seen today and on several previous occasions, incidents have occurred in Bauphal of Patuakhali.
There, candidate Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud—Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Jamaat—has been facing completely one-sided police actions in his area. Today as well, there was an attack there.
About 15 of our workers were injured. Our office was attacked and people were injured. The Bauphal OC is completely biased.
He is behaving in a partisan manner. We have told the AC to immediately withdraw the OC from there. If this OC remains, there is no possibility that the election in Bauphal will be peaceful, fair, or acceptable.”
“The OC has raided Jamaat’s election offices on various pretexts. He has been bringing BNP, Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal activists with him. It is obvious that these actions are being carried out deliberately and with intent.
We have said that we want to see action from the Election Commission against him within today. Otherwise, under no circumstances will the election there be peaceful or acceptable,” he said.
Referring to incidents in Pabna, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer said, “A number of incidents have occurred there one after another. Habibur Rohan of Pabna used to belong to another party and is now with the BNP. Many of our motorcycles were set on fire there.
Our office was attacked. Even yesterday, our women workers, voters, and leaders were attacked. Our activists were injured.”
He said, “The local administration officials and the TNOs who are responsible are acting in a completely biased manner.”
The Jamaat leader said, “Those in charge of administration must play a neutral role. Only a few days remain. Such behavior will create confusion among the public. It will be a major obstacle to holding a fair, beautiful, and acceptable election.”
He added, “Whatever support the Election Commission provides to candidates should be provided equally to all. We have asked for assurances on these issues.”
He also said, “The movement, security, and vehicles of central leaders should be clearly specified in advance.”
When asked about the demand by 11 women’s organizations to cancel the candidacy of the Jamaat Ameer, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer said, “A group of people is deliberately spreading falsehoods about our position on women.
The Ameer-e-Jamaat’s Twitter account was hacked. We were later able to recover it. We have shown that among those involved in this incident was an official from Bangabhaban.
The police have arrested the person whose email was used and brought him before the law. We have filed a specific case in this matter, which is being investigated by the DB.”
