US envoy lauds to ensure polls security

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen on Wednesday expressed appreciation for the interim government’s initiatives to ensure a safe and secure electoral process.

He came up with the remarks following a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the latter’s office in the capital.

According to a Facebook post of the US Embassy Dhaka, Ambassador Christensen welcomed the opportunity to hear directly from the advisor about the measures being taken to maintain law and order and protect voters, polling officials, and election infrastructure.

During the meeting, the ambassador also held broader talks on security cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.

Earlier, on January 28, Christensen held a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin to know about the preparation of the upcoming 13th parliamentary poll.

At that time, in a facebook post, Christensen said that he had the pleasure to hear about election preparations for democratic and peaceful election on February 12.

After joining as the 19th Ambassador to Bangladesh, he has been holding series of meetings with different stakeholders including political parties.
