Prog on road safety, right to information, and waste management held in Barishal

A showcase program highlighting initiatives on road safety, waste management, and the right to information was held in Barishal on Wednesday .The day-long program began at 10:30 a.m. at Euro Convention Hall in the city.

he event aimed to present the progress, achievements, and future plans of activities implemented by LalSabuj Society in Barishal over the past four months.

During the program, detailed discussions were held on the activities carried out during this period, along with an exchange of views on how to further strengthen these initiatives in the future.

Over the past four months, LalSabuj Society, with the support of The Asia Foundation and funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), has organized several town hall meetings in Barishal.

These meetings facilitated constructive discussions on citizens’ opinions, existing problems, and possible solutions.

Representatives from various government institutions, civil society members, journalists, teachers, students, citizen journalists, and people from diverse professional backgrounds participated in these engagements.

The panel discussion at the showcase program featured SajjadParvez (Assistant Director, Department of Social Services), Md. Shakiluzzaman (Assistant Director, District Information Office, Barishal), DipuHafizurRahman (Deputy Director, Democracy International), ShiuliSaha (Member, MahilaParishad), MeherAfrozeMita (Regional Coordinator, The Hunger Project), ArpubApu (Bureau Chief, Somoy TV), SayeedPantha (Bureau Chief, Channel i), Dr. IsrakYunusIma (Lecturer, Department of Community Medicine, South Apollo Medical College), and Shubhangkar Chakraborty (President, MAP).

Speakers stated that LalSabuj Society’s initiatives on waste management, road safety, and the right to information in Barishal are unique and impactful. They noted that such programs are contributing significantly to the improvement of civic services in the city and expressed hope that the continued implementation of these initiatives would lead to visible development in Barishal.

The organizers noted that the presence and feedback of representatives from various sectors would play an important role in making LalSabuj Society’s future activities more effective and outcome-oriented.
