Fall of heavyweight leaders may occur this polls: Sarjis

Staff Reporter:

National Citizens’ Party (NCP)’s, Chief Organizer (North) Sarjis Alam, has been campaigning for the fourth consecutive day in the Panchagarh-1 constituency ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

On the fourth day of his campaign onSunday, Sarjis visited voters in different areas of Amarkhana Union in Panchagarh, conducting door-to-door outreach and courtyard meetings.

Speaking to journalists, Sarjis said, “On February 12, in this election, the pre-determined idea or concept of ‘heavyweights’ will no longer survive in Bangladesh. The so-called heavyweight leaders of various major political parties—this time you will see their landslide defeat, Insha’Allah.”

He further said that the spirit of revolution has reached people’s homes.

“We are seeing a change among the people. People are just waiting for the 12th. Every person will vote against oppression. Every person will vote against extortion, land grabbing, threats and intimidation, abuse of power, and case-trading—against those who have done these things.”

Making further allegations, he said,
“You will see that those who have committed oppression for one year and three months are now trying to appear as angels. People will clearly recognize such chameleon-like characters. You will see in the election that people may listen to many things, but when it comes to casting their vote, they will vote in the right place.”

He added that not only in Panchagarh-1, but across Bangladesh,
“On the side of justice, goodness, and ordinary people, the united Bangladesh of the 10-party alliance—this united 10-party Bangladesh—will emerge victorious and form the government in the future, Insha’Allah.”
Raising allegations of threats, Sarjis said,

“We want to make one thing clear. Even now, in my constituency, some BNP leaders and activists are going to many people at the local level and issuing threats.

This morning, a Jamaat activist came to me with a complaint. He was threatened and told: Jamaat will not come to power, Jamaat or the 11-party alliance candidate will not win here. They said they would ‘deal with them’ after the election if they do not vote for the sheaf of paddy.”

He further stated,
“We say clearly—those who want to come to power by threatening and intimidating people, their downfall will be even more terrible than that of Sheikh Hasina. The people of Bangladesh are no longer where they once were. Let people vote freely.”

Leaders and activists of the alliance, along with voters, were present at the event.
