5 held for killing disabled auto driver

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Narayanganj, has arrested five people in connection with the murder of a physically disabled auto-rickshaw driver and the theft of his vehicle in Sonargaon. The arrested suspects are Md. Sujan Mia (33), Md. Shafikul Islam Hira (39), Md. Dulal Mia (45), Md. Rahim Mia (55), and Md. Abul Kashem (40). The stolen auto-rickshaw and items used in the crime have been recovered.

The victim, Sohel (41), son of Habibur Rahman, was a resident of Nayapur Dakshinpara in Sadipur Union under Sonargaon Police Station. He was physically disabled.

According to police, Sohel left home around 2:30 pm on January 19 to operate his auto-rickshaw. When he did not return that night, family members searched for him but found his mobile phone switched off.

On the morning of January 20 at around 7:30 am, locals reported a body lying by a slope beside the Tilabu-Musarchor road in Musarchor village under Jampur Union. The family later identified the body as Sohel’s.

Following the incident, the victim’s brother, Mohsin Mia, filed a murder case with Sonargaon Police Station.
