Housewife killed during robbery attempt

Miscreants have killed a housewife named Momena Begum (42) while trying to rob a house in Fakirhat Upazila under Bagerhat district, according to a delayed report. The incident took place in the village Madhya Bahirdia within Bahirdia-Mansa union of the Upazila. The deceased housewife is the wife of prominent businessman Billal Khan of the Madhya Bahirdia village and the second cousin of local UP member Khan Zahid Hasan. At the night of the incident, the deceased’s husband Billal Khan lodged a murder case with Fakirhat Model Police Station as the plaintiff against unknown accused persons.
Police and locals said that at Wednesday at around 10 pm, Billal Khan came home from his business establishment at Mansa Bazar. He entered the house and found his wife lying dead inside the house.
On receiving the information, a police squad led by SI Ohidul Haque, in-charge of Bahirdia police outpost visited the place of occurrence. Later, after preparing a spot verification report, they recovered the body. After completing the initial post-mortem report, SI Ohidul Haque said that there were multiple injury marks on the body’s face. There were also injury marks below the ear. Initial suspicion is that she may have been killed by being stabbed, punched and strangled with a scarf. He added, the housewife may have been killed because she recognized the thief.
