‘July uprising sacrifices indispensable’

Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder on Tuesday said the contributions of those who sacrificed their lives during the July mass uprising are undeniable, as the movement envisioned a new way of governing the country beyond conventional political practices.
Speaking as the chief guest at a public awareness meeting on the referendum at Shaheed Hadis Park in Khulna, he said the people are the rightful owners of the country and hold the authority to choose its administrators.
He informed that voters in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election will cast votes on two ballot papers one to elect members of parliament and the other for a national referendum.
The adviser said the proposed July National Charter 2025, formulated by integrating recommendations from various reform commissions, aims to transform the country’s prevailing political culture. He urged citizens to vote “Yes” in the referendum to recognise the charter and move forward towards building a new Bangladesh.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed presided over the event. Among others, Khulna Range DIG Md Rezaul Haque and Superintendent of Police Md Mahbubur Rahman addressed the meeting.
Officials from different government departments and people from various walks of life attended the programme, where motivational videos promoting the election and referendum were also screened.
