Khulna ravaged by river erosion

Every year, the coastal region of Khulna is devastated by some natural disaster. Especially during the monsoon season, erosion occurs in the embankments protecting the river banks.

Along with this, the low-lying areas are flooded. Although the government has spent a huge amount of money to prevent erosion, its benefits are not being seen at the marginal level.

The reason is that due to the unplanned movement of sand and various watercrafts from the Kazi Bacha River, even though the embankment has been repaired, it is not being used.

A housewife on the banks of the Kazi Bacha River said with a look of distress on her face that we had mosques, temples, shops here, everything has disappeared. Many of our houses have gone to pieces.
