Zawad hits 70*: BD beat Nepal in ACC U-19 Asia Cup

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team beat Nepal Under-19 Cricket team by seven wickets in their Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday. Zawad Abrar played the vital role for his team’s victory. Zawad Abrar remained unbeaten with 70 runs. He hit seven fours and three sixes in his 68-ball innings. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh youngsters led the points table collecting four points from two matches, while Nepal remained with naught playing as many matches. Bangladesh confirmed their semi-final berth.
Chasing Nepal’s paltry total of 130 off 31.1 overs, Bangladesh romped home using only 24.5 overs making 135 for the loss of three wickets.
Bangladesh had a modest start as the two openers Zawad Abrar and Rifat Beg put on together 28 runs in the opening stand before Rifat Beg (5) was dismissed by Abhisekh Tiwari.
After Rifat’s dismissal, Azizul Hakim arrived at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he (1) was run out by a joint-effort of Ashok Dhami and Aashish Luhar when Bangladesh’s score was 29 for the loss of two wickets.
After Azizul Hakim’s dismissal, Zawad Abrar and Kalam Siddiki repaired the damage scoring together 92 runs for the third wicket partnership before Kalam Siddiki was dismissed by Yuvraj Khatri when Bangladesh’s total was 121 for the loss of three wickets.
Kalam Siddiki made 34 from 66 deliveries featuring four fours.
After Kalam Siddiki’s departure, Zawad Abrar and Rizan Hossan helped their side to reach the victory target adding together 14 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Rizan Hossan remained unbeaten with 12 runs.
Yuvraj Khatri and Abhisekh Tiwari took one wicket each conceding 18 and 25 runs respectively.
Earlier, Abhisekh Tiwari and Aashish Luhar could made a notable score against the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack.
Tiwari made 30 from 43 balls including two sixes, while Luar scored 23 runs.
Mohammad Sobuj, Shahriar Ahmed, Azizul Hakim, Saad Islam and Shahria Al-Amin played the key role in wrecking Nepal’s innings.
Mohammad Sobuj captured three wickets in the space of 27 runs while, Shahriar Ahmed, Azizul Hakim, Saad Islam bagged a pair of wickets each giving 10, 18 and 32 runs respectively.
Shahria Al-Amin took one wicket for 22 runs.
