Govt orders public offices to maximise solar use
The government has decided that Bangabhaban, the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Planning Commission and Finance Division will meet most of their electricity needs through solar power for official activities.
The Cabinet Division issued a circular in this regard on Monday, outlining the government’s decision to increase the use of solar power in these key offices.
The move means the five government establishments will place greater reliance on solar power for their official electricity needs, with solar energy expected to cover the majority of their requirements.
According to the circular, the decision will initially apply to Bangabhaban, the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Planning Commission and Finance Division.
Other government offices will also gradually come under the initiative, as the government plans to increase the use of solar power across public offices in phases.
The circular said other government offices will have to maximize their use of solar power in phases, indicating a gradual expansion of the initiative to more government establishments.
