Scientific Workshop held on BADC’s irrigation project

The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) organised a scientific workshop on Tuesday, at the BARC auditorium in the capital, focusing on the country’s irrigation water management and development of a web-based agricultural information system.
The workshop was part of a pilot research project, with participation from BADC engineers, department heads, and representatives from the University of Cologne, Germany.
BADC Chairman Md. Ruhul Amin Khan, the chief guest, emphasised on the crucial role of agriculture in national development and highlighted farmers as the backbone of this sector, says a BADC release.
He stated that BADC continuously works to deliver essential agricultural inputs to farmers efficiently. He also underscored that efficient irrigation management is a key standard for higher crop production and that research is vital for building such systems.
The workshop showcased the project’s significant role in formulating strategies for sustainable food security through improved irrigation practices.
This event marked a step towards enhancing irrigation management and agricultural data systems in Bangladesh with international collaboration and a focus on research-driven solutions to support farmers and boost agricultural productivity.
