Staff Reporter :
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has reported that 198 murder incidents occurred in the capital over the past ten months.
The data was revealed by DMP Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman during a media briefing on Tuesday.
According to him, the city saw an average of around 20 murders per month in this period, and investigators have already identified the motives behind most of these cases.
Speaking about the killing of Jubo Dal leader Golam Kibriya in Pallabi, the DMP official noted that the investigation is underway. One suspect has been detained so far, while two others remain absconding. He said the motive will be clarified once the remaining suspects are apprehended.
On Monday (17 November) around 6:40pm, Golam Kibriya was shot dead inside a hardware shop located in C Block near the old Pallabi Police Station.
CCTV footage captured three individuals—masked and wearing helmets—entering the shop and firing at Kibriya at close range. The attackers executed the killing and escaped within just 10 seconds, as seen in the video.
